This Privacy Policy explains what information Birln Wall (a product of Phlout LLC, "we", "us") collects and how we use it. Birln Wall is a personal call- and text-screening service: you publish a screened number, people you approve ring straight through, and unknown callers are asked to pay a one-time fee to connect. We built it to protect your privacy, and we hold your data to that standard.
The short version. We use your information only to run screening for you. We do not sell or share your phone number, your contacts, or your messages with anyone for their own marketing. We do not send you marketing texts.
Information we collect
- Your account. Your mobile phone number, used to create your account and sign you in by one-time passcode, and the screened number we issue to you.
- Your approved list. Contacts you choose to add — names and phone numbers — so those people can reach you without screening. You control this list and can change it at any time.
- Payments. When an unknown caller pays the one-time connect fee, the payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded and the caller's phone number; we never receive or store full card details.
- Call & message metadata. To screen and route calls and texts, we process records such as the calling number, the number called, timestamps, screening outcome, and voicemail you choose to keep. We do not record the content of screened voice calls.
- Device & app information. Basic technical data needed to deliver the app and notifications (for example, push tokens and app version).
How we use your information
- To screen, route, and connect your calls and texts.
- To let the people on your approved list reach you, and to ask unknown callers to pay the connect fee.
- To send transactional text messages tied to a connection request (see our SMS Terms).
- To provide support, prevent abuse and fraud, and keep the service secure.
- To meet legal and tax obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Mobile information & SMS
We do not sell or share your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in, or consent with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The text messages we send are transactional only and relate to connecting a specific call. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Full details are in our SMS Opt-In & Messaging Terms.
How we share information
We share information only with the service providers that make Birln Wall work, and only as needed:
- Telephony — to place, screen, and connect calls and texts and to provision numbers.
- Stripe — to process the one-time connect fee.
- Hosting & infrastructure — to securely run the app and store your settings and approved list.
These providers may use your information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing help@birlnwall.com.
Your choices
- Add or remove anyone on your approved list at any time, in the app.
- Reply STOP to opt out of transactional texts.
- Request a copy of your data, or its deletion, by emailing us.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data protected and limit access to what is necessary to run the service.
Children
Birln Wall is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or by email.
